The risk-based approach

IFRA promotes the risk-based approach (as opposed to a purely hazard-based approach) when assessing the safety of  ingredients.  The risk-based approach, which is an important principle that IFRA adheres to, is valid globally and shared by other industry partners and associations. 

IFRA, as a member of the ASEAN Cosmetic Association (ACA), worked with the ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body on setting the risk-based criteria for use of CMR substances in cosmetic products.
